Faith Formation - Christian Education

For Children and Youth

Nursery : Nursery is offered for infants - 4 years of age or they are welcome to stay in worship with the adults. Christ loved a joyful noise and so do we.
Children's Chapel: Families gather in the sanctuary at 10:30am to worship together. At 10:45 children are invited to continue their worship experience in the Children's Chapel using the Revised Common Lectionary Feasting on the Word Curriculum.
Special Events for Faith Formation Include:
Christmas Pageant: watch for the You-tube version of the 2011 version of the Christmas pageant which made it's debut at the 7:00 Christmas Eve Family Service.
Epiphany Sunday: Remember a non-perishable item, for the Ferndale Food Bank to be collected by the Wise Ones, the Angels and the Shepherds as we reflect on the gifts offered to the Christ Child according to the gospel of Matthew.
Lenten Evenings: sharing a potluck meal and an age appropriate study to deepen our faith during this reflective season of the church year.
Annual Easter Sunday Brunch: complete with a traditional Easter Egg Hunt.
Quarterly Youth Group Events: Fun and Games with our Sister Congregations as well as annual Camping Opportunities at denominational camps.
Mission opportunities for youth and adults: ranging from caroling at Louisa House and in the church neighborhood to Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans or volunteering to work on projects at the Interfaith Our House or serving meals at the Community Meal. You could also collect food for the Ferndale Food Bank or help us collect Aluminum cans for our new playground…
Thanks to Emma's vision and tenacity we will be completing the Mission in our own back yard this spring check out our "Amazing New Playground" for our awesome children in the back yard of our church.
Vacation Bible School: Each year is unique as we participate in a multi-church event. The 2012 Biblical Market Place Extravaganza promises to be full of energy and delight.
OWL (Our Whole Lives): 7th - 9th graders are engaging in Our Whole Lives which helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.
Confirmation: This is a mentor-student based class that offers exciting opportunities to learn about the foundation of our faith and to experience our growing faith-together. Students choose two names they would like to have as their mentor- Pastor Bobbi then coordinates the partnering and the pairs decide when/where it is best to meet to complete their assignments in between classes.
